Jinan N. Allan

Managing Director & Lead Scientific Programmer, Assistant Professor, Clemson University

Jinan is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Clemson University. Prior to joining Clemson University, Jinan worked as a postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development’s Center for Adaptive Rationality and at the Science of Intelligence Cluster of Excellence, in Berlin, Germany. Jinan’s research focuses on the Quantitative Modeling of Decision Difficulty and Risk Literacy. This work considers the development of metrics and predictive cognitive models for decision-making under risk (e.g., decisions to take shelter during a tornado). Unlike one-size-fits-all models, Jinan’s research focuses on the manifold cognitive mechanisms that shape diverse and well-informed responses to risks. As such, her research program investigates the system of human behavior, and builds process and structural models for cognitive psychology, especially for decision-making, reasoning, and individual differences in cognition.
